Ms. Yakoubek's Junior Kindergarten Class
Hi there! Welcome to Junior Kindergarten and our ocean crew family! This will be my first year at Sacred Heart, as well as my first year of teaching (the classroom is ocean themed)! I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, as well as an endorsement in English as a Second Language from Dominican University. I also coach cheerleading & do cheerleading/dance enrichment classes here after school. I completed first grade student teaching in December 2024 and have been substituting at Sacred Heart between January-February 2025. From March to May 2025, I covered a kindergarten co-teaching long-term substitute position at District 62 in Des Plaines, as well as covering a three-year old preschool class and the library teacher at Sacred Heart for two weeks. I have watched the school grow in enormous ways as my mother teaches here too.
I have always loved working with the younger students and look forward to a fun filled learning experience this school year. I cannot wait to watch every student grow in their own ways and develop a relationship with each one. My mission is for students to have this classroom as a safe space, where they fall in love with learning. I am so grateful to be working at this school, alongside wonderful staff and a vibrant community. I have had many experiences working with children. I teach dance to a range of ages at the Glenview & Northbrook Park District. At the same time, teaching ballet at a new ballet school in the Glen named Tutu School. Before working here, I have worked at two childcare centers as a resource teacher and part-time co teacher for the toddler room. Throughout summers, I have been immersed as a director for youth camps with experiences of creating activities and themes.
This year I will be working alongside Ms. Harvey! I am beyond excited to have her a part of our junior kindergarten family. A little about her; She is an experienced teacher’s assistant and has been working at Sacred Heart for five years! She loves watching the students grow each and every day! She can’t wait to meet all the Junior Kindergarten students & their families.
