What an extraordinary way to close this week, with the happiest news of all. Our little “David” of a community stood up to the “Goliath” of an insurance company, and won!

Thanks to the tireless perseverance of Hunter’s parents, the fervent prayers of our parish and community, the many heartfelt letters written by his family members and Sacred Heart schoolmates, and the generous coverage by NBC, Blue Cross Blue Shield has reversed their denial and Hunter will now receive the life-changing gene therapy he so desperately needs.

This victory is not only a testament to the power of faith, but also a beautiful reminder of the good in the world and the strength of community; that when we stand together, we can make big things happen.

This just in... the Record North Shore has published an article featuring our parent-run athletic program: Viking Fit. Since its launch in 2023, Viking Fit has seen exponential growth and while the results of this innovative and intensive fitness program speak for themselves, it's really nice when it ends up in the news too!

On Sunday, November 3rd over 200 members of our Sacred Heart School community came together to run in support of our school. We'd like to thank all of our generous sponsors: GoHydrate, Autobarn Mazda of Evanston, Once Upon a Bagel, and State Farm Byrne Dempsey. Thank you to all who worked hard fundraising this past month, all who worked just as hard to organize the event, and everyone who volunteered to help out during the race. Thank you to all who donated and thank you to all who laced up and came out on November 3rd. It was a wonderful reflection of the energy, community and lifelong friendships to be found in every fabric of Sacred Heart School.

The next Pope has been announced and we can all rejoice. Pope Leo XIV is not only the first American Pope ever to be elected in the 2000 year history of the Catholic Church, he's also originally from just down the street in our home city of Chicago!
