Early Childhood

Early Childhood programs at Sacred Heart are play-based and dynamic, with attention to both social-emotional learning and teamwork, as well as independent play and resourceful problem-solving. Days are structured to support individual curiosity through play-based, experiential, and project-based learning.

Preschool and Junior Kindergarten (JK) Focus Areas:

 
  • Motor Skills: Developing both fine and gross motor skills.

  • Letter and Number Recognition: Learning and mastering letter and number recognition.

  • Interactive Experiments: Conducting fun and educational experiments.

  • STEAM Activities: Engaging in science, technology, engineering, art, and math projects.

  • Imaginative Play: Encouraging creativity and imagination through play.

  • Outdoor Exploration: Participating in outdoor play and activities.

  • Themed Learning: Interacting with a variety of themed books, activities, and crafts.

  • Community Helpers: Enjoying visits from our community helpers.

  • Learning Routines: Establishing routines that introduce foundational skills for elementary school.

  • Language and Literacy: Building early language and literacy skills.

  • Early Math: Developing basic math skills.

  • Art, Music, Science, and Dramatic Play: Exploring creative and scientific activities.

Kindergarten Program:

Kindergarten at Sacred Heart is a full-day program that covers all core areas of learning. Students engage in hands-on activities and structured instruction, promoting organized and independent learning.

In addition to continuing lessons from Junior Kindergarten, our Kindergarteners also:

 

  • Field Trips: Enjoy their first field trips off-campus.
  • Mass Attendance: Attend Wednesday all-school Masses for the first time.
  • Personal iPads: Receive personal iPads for educational use at school.
  • STEAM Lab Projects: Begin exploring more complex projects in our state-of-the-art STEAM lab.
