All about Me!
This is my 17th year at at Sacred Heart School where I have taught Jr. Kindergarten along with Kindergarten. I have also taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and ESL in public school. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education as well as a Master's of Education in Early Childhood Education. I am married with four grown children, including one set of twins. I have three grandsons who are the lights in my life!
I relate to theorists David Elkind and Vivian Paley who understand the importance of play-based learning and giving children time to develop in all academic as well as social/emotional areas, at their own pace. I believe that kindergarten is the most important (and most fun!) year of school for children. It's the launching off point for all future learning. "It's a good day to play!"
I am also the Early Childhood Coordinator. I oversee the pre-school, Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes. Along with that, I am teaching a mom and tots class again this year! I am excited to get to know our earliest learners through songs, finger plays and activities. If you have a child that is under 3 years old, please join us! This is open to anyone in the community.
